Foxes boss Nigel Pearson has been attracted by the Tottenham full-back's versatility, and hopes to secure a deal this month despite the London club holding out for around £5m
Leicester City are hoping to beat Swansea City to the signing of Tottenham defender Kyle Naughton after making a £3 million bid for his services, ItisaGoal understands.
Naughton enjoyed a successful loan spell at the King Power Stadium back in 2010 and the Foxes hope they can win the battle for his signature even though Spurs are believed to be holding for a fee of £5m.
The former Sheffield United man has been told he can leave Tottenham this month after falling down the pecking order in the wake of Kyle Walker's return to fitness and the recent arrival of United States international DeAndre Yedlin.
Swansea had been leading the chase for Naughton and had made an enquiry for the full-back as Garry Monk looks to bolster his defensive options.
However, Leicester have now entered the race for the 26-year-old with Foxes boss Nigel Pearson keen to reinforce his own side as they aim to steer clear of the relegation battle in the second half of the season.
Pearson believes Naughton's versatility, in that he can play at either right-back or left-back, will prove a valuable addition to his squad.
Having joined Tottenham in 2009, Naughton never really nailed down a regular place in the side and is thought to be keen to move on in search of regular first-team football.
