The Lyon striker has been the stand-out star of the Ligue 1 campaign having already scored 19 goals and Jean-Michel Aulas says he is already superior to the Real Madrid man
Alexandre Lacazette is already better than Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
The 23-year-old emerged last season with 15 goals in Ligue 1 but has already found the back of the net 19 times this term, leading to inevitable rumours of a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.
Lacazette himself admitted only last week that he is likely to eventually move abroad but said he had no preference between playing his football in England or Spain.
But any suitors for the France international will have to pay a hefty transfer fee if Aulas gets his way, after he made the bold claim that the striker is superior to the most expensive footballer of all time.
"You can't put a figure on it," he said to Le Parisien. "What's the name of the Welshman at Real Madrid? I think Alexandre is a lot better. But Alexandre doesn't have a price, so it's pointless thinking of one.
"He is an intelligent boy, he knows the team and the coach allow him to express himself and to become one of the best European strikers.
"The OL will grow faster than all its major European competitors. Would Alexandre be wise to leave before Euro 2016? I do not think so.
"The question is whether we can reach the Champions League, we need to do that to keep our best players."
Lacazette signed a two-year contract extension in September 2014, which means he is tied to Lyon until June 2018.
