Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez has admitted he is relieved he doesn't have to face Cristiano Ronaldo this weekend when his side take on Real Madrid.
The Portugal international will miss Saturday's encounter, as well as the following fixture, due to a two-match suspension after picking up a red card against Cordoba last weekend.
Madrid were beaten 4-2 by Sociedad in the reverse fixture when they were also without Ronaldo and Martinez believes his absence could prove to be a major advantage at the Bernabeu.
"It certainly is good news that Ronaldo will not play," Martinez was quoted as saying by AS.
"We all know the player he is and that he doesn't need much to score against you. That doesn't mean that the rest of the Madrid team can't cause problems, though.
"They are all excellent players and with or without Cristiano, Madrid are a great team."
Madrid sit top of the Primera Division table with 48 points from 19 games, while Sociedad are 11th under new boss David Moyes.
