Burnley eye move for West Brom midfielder Dorrans

The Scotland midfielder signed a three-year deal at the Hawthorns in the summer but his place could be under threat as new boss Tony Pulis looks to deploy two holding midfielders

Burnley are eyeing a move for West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans, Goal understands.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche is keen to add to his midfield options during this month's transfer window and is thought to be a long-term admirer of Dorrans.

The Scotland international had looked like leaving the Hawthorns for most of last season, with his previous contract having been due to expire at the end of the campaign.

However, he won his place back in the side at the back end of 2013-14 before signing a new three-year deal last summer.

Dorrans has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, but he could find himself pushed out of the team with new Baggies boss Tony Pulis keen to play with two holding midfielders in the centre of the pitch.

The news of Dorrans' possible availability has alerted Dyche, who sees the Scot as someone who could provide a creative spark for his side and play a key role in their battle for Premier League survival.

Dyche has revealed he still has money to spend in January following the arrival of Michael Keane from Manchester United, and he could test West Brom's resolve to hang onto the midfielder with an official bid.
